help please with pattern
Hi,
I'm an intermediate, product knitter. That is, i knit things because i want to wear them, or because my fingers are restless.
I am thinking about a Paper Crane Sweater pattern I bought at ravelry but I'm not sure how to use circular needles and still have an open front. I've only ever used circs for hats or felted bowls.
Also, i want to use a Habu yarn but it says the yardage is 476. My size for the latter sweater pattern indicates 275 yards. I've never made anything using only one hank of yarn...am I misunderstanding?
Thanks, and I can fwd a pdf of the pattern if needed for clarification.

Welcome to the forum!

1500 - 3200 yards (1372 - 2926 m)
The yardage of the sweater is this. Each skein of the Habu has 763 yards. You would need however many yards at the proper gauge for your size.

To use circular needles for an open front, you just knit back and forth as if they were straight needles. This allows you to hold all the stitches on one needle.

Many of us only use circular needles for all patterns.

Is this the pattern?
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/paper-crane

I think you must be reading something wrong. It uses lace wight yarn which means you'll need about 1500 yards for the smallest size according to the pattern. Is the yarn you want he same used in the pattern?

I use circular needles for everything. You just turn your work and knit just like with straight needles.

ok--im sure i must have read something wrong. But for my size, (albeit in a diff yarn!), the pattern calls for 275 yards of yarn. So if the hank of Habu yarn is 763 yards...then one hank?

There must be a mistake in the printed pattern. The smallest size calls for 1500 yards of yarn. You might be able to make a doll sweater with 275 yards of yarn.
