I was thinking of maybe making DK weight yarn from worsted weight yarn by getting rid of 1 ply of the worsted. I don't mind if that loosens the twist(at least I don't think so). I was wondering how I should join the strands if they are made of acrylic yarn. I have tried knots and they won't join it. Any opinions as to what I should do?
I assume this is just a joining question since we discussed the ply issue in another thread. So..I use acrylic and I just start knitting with the new yarn and weave in the ends when I'm done. When I weave in I spit the plies, but I'm not sure how that would work with this project.
When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.
Single strand from many strands not just many strands
I want a single strand of DK weight yarn from several strands of worsted weight yarn because if I leave them as individual strands I am going to have problems with the cast on and all that so is there any way I can join the strands together because I know spit splicing wont work. I mean spit splicing temporarily holds them together but not permanently which is what I am wanting. What will hold 2 acrylic strands of yarn together permanently so that I have no problem with the cast on? Do I have to do a Russian join or what?
