If I want a complimentary color scheme: Color Arrangements: Part 1: 1-5 blue and 29-25 orange
How many possible color arrangements are there for:
1 blue and 29 orange

2 blue and 28 orange

3 blue and 27 orange

4 blue and 26 orange

5 blue and 25 orange

I know it grows exponentially but I want to know exactly how many color arrangements there are in case I want a complimentary color scheme and I don't want a checkerboard.

I can only recommend taking a look at the statistics section of khanacademy.org for how to do the math. There is a section on how to work out just this sort of scenario, and I can't remember how to do it offhand. I've sworn off statistics.

An option that will give you an idea of what those combinations can look like is to color a few out on graph paper to find then develop a visually appealing block arrangement.

In total numbers, it's 29 but I would think, like Charlotte, that how the blocks are arranged is more important. You could also play around with this on a spreadsheet to get a feeling for the pattern you like.

Ah, I see. Does your blanket have an axis of symmetry or is it oriented in one direction?

It is a 5*6 grid so it does have an axis of symettry. A horizontal one.
