What did I do wrong?
So I just started knitting 3 weeks ago and I recently decided to make a big scarf (30 cast on) and I started by going with black, then adding red, after a few stitches of red, I decided to go back to black but now the thread that I used is now in front of my scarf....what did I do wrong? I'm using my phone and it won't upload pics but I will post then when I can

Are you using basic stockinette or garter stitch?

Where are you changing yarns/colors? end of row? middle of row?

Are you using straight needles or a cable needle?

A photo would help but you likley just put the work down and when you picked it back up, started going the wrong way (i.e. had the needles in the wrong hands).

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean where you changed colors it looks wrong? Always change colors on the right side of the work. The back will look different. The only way to have both sides the same is to knit in the round so it's a tube.

When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.

In my experience, YouTube has always been very helpful. But it sounds like you didn't move the yarn to the back of the work after you switched colors. If you're knitting, your yarn has to always be in the back. It should only be in the front of you're doing a purl stitch.

Other than that, if you just started knitting, I would highly recommend just starting with one color until you get it down & are comfortable with doing that. Then, add in color. Color work can be quite confusing, even for the experienced knitter.

Just some friendly advice.
