Fishermans rib bootees - help with pattern please!
I'm a complete beginner and attempting to knit fishermans rib bootees. I have got to the shape instep part of the pattern but unfortunately I don't understand it from there. If anybody can help by writing out what they think the pattern is rather than the abbreviation that would be great!

The bit of the pattern before the shape instep:
1st Row. Knit
2nd Row. K1, *p1, k1below, rep from * to last 2 sts, p1, k1.
1st and 2nd rows set patt. Keep continuity of patt as set (throughout) work 10 rows more.

I've done all do the above but cannot understand below!

Shape instep.

1st Row. patt 22, patt2tog, turn.
2nd Row. S1, patt 7, patt2tog, turn
Rep 2nd row 8 times more. 27sts.
Next row. S1 patt to end.

Does the 1st row mean knitt 22, knit 2 together, turn?
Does the 2nd row mean:
S1, k1, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, purl 2 together.
OR
S1, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, p1, knit 2 together, turn.

When it says next row s1 patt to end - What is the pattern for this row?!

Thanks!!

Hi! Can you link to the pattern online, just to be sure that what any of us say about the pattern is correct? I've marked my responses in red below. Hope it helps.

You've worked 12 rows in pattern so far, and the next row is odd, so it will be a knit row.

Shape instep.

Patt means to keep working in the pattern stitch you established above.

If your last row was a knit row, the next is your p1, k1b row. If your previous row was a p1,k1b row, the next is a knit row.

The designer cant tell you which decrease to use because you might be on a knit row or the p1,k1b row when you decrease, so she tells you patt2tog.

If you're on the knit row dec with a k2tog, if the p1,k1b row, dec with the stitch that will maintain your rib pattern.

1st Row. patt 22, patt2tog, turn.
2nd Row. S1, patt 7, patt2tog, turn
Rep 2nd row 8 times more. 27sts.
Next row. S1 patt to end.

Does the 1st row mean knitt 22, knit 2 together, turn?
Does the 2nd row mean:
S1, k1, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, purl 2 together.
OR
S1, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, p1, k1below, p1, knit 2 together, turn.

When it says next row s1 patt to end - What is the pattern for this row?!

Thanks!!
