'spiral' blanket pattern?
anyone know of actual patterns for this style blanket:

http://yarnloopie.blogspot.com/2008/...n-chunkie.html 1st picture , also seen here http://salihan.com/2010/self-striping-sock-yarn/ 2nd picture.

it says the technique can be done in a circular or square spiral, but no actual patterns, so any help would be appreciated. have a bundle of variegated/self-striping cushy yarn i got as mill ends, in beautiful seattle seahawks blues/greens/silvers and am thinking of this blanket for my mom's cousin who's a huge fan.

It reminds me of the log cabin blanket that ArtLady made awhile back. This is the pattern and there's a link to her variation at the bottom of the column of photos on the left.
There are similar patterns here too:

It is referred to as a ten-stitch blanket, pinwheel blanket or spiral blanket. There are MANY patterns for it.

It can be done in a square...
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...stitch-blanket
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...nwheel-blanket

or a circle...
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...n-stitch-twist

It can be accomplished via knitting...
see all above

or crocheting...

A log-cabin style blanket is different as the stripes/strips are made separately, with different color yarns, and later seamed together. The ten-stitch/pinwheel blanket is made in one piece, by picking up sts as you go, and therefore, requires no seaming.

thanks for the replies, sal and rochester... hadn't thought of it as a "pinwheel." once i used that term, and "10-stitch" as well, on ravelry a whole host of designs came up. they included those specific ones you both pointed out, with patterns (that aren't supposed to be complex, but somehow are like advanced theoretical calculus, but i digress...) and others that all had their own quirks and variations. will muddle through now that i know what i'm looking for/at. thanks again

Ten Stitch Blanket Tutorial

I'm so glad you asked about this. I'm watching the video I linked to, there is a link on the page to the pattern. There is a Log Cabin tutorial on the same page that I'm going to watch next. Thanks!

Yeah, that. Lol. I made the zigzag one & it's my family's favorite blanket.

Who wouldn't love it? It's a gorgeous blanket with a great choice of color tints. Very nicely done.

ok, i'm going for it... 10 stitch blanket...
eek! seriously, had to watch the half-hour verypink.com tutorial multiple times WHILE knitting... watch a minute, pause, do the work, watch another minute, pause again, do some more work, etc etc... but have finally turned the 1st and 2nd corners... and am now about to start attaching to the original 18 rows, creating the ridge... pictures attached for posterity
