love this website
I'm so glad I received a notice from the forum that I haven't posted lately. I have had the pleasure of getting people interested in knitting. My only problem is that I don't have enough time to knit and when I do, I get bored with anything larger than a bootie or sock. Completing a sweater is painful. Any suggestions? Thanks, Charlotte

first time intro and a question
Hello everybody!
Wonderful site!
I'm brand new to knitting and this has helped so much. I am knitting a practice scarf, using sections of garter stitch and small sections of ribbing (k1p1). My question is: why does the yarn pull in at the ribbing sections? It doesn't happen immediately when I switch to ribbing, more like after I switch back to garter stitch I notice that the sections of ribbing kind of develop an hourglass shape. Does that make sense? Can anyone explain why this is happening? Am I doing something wrong? I'm knitting the knit stitches and purling the purl ones--except on the first row, of course, after I switch from garter st, when they're all knit stitches.

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for this great resource. I stumbled across a link to your site on another forum that I participate in.

I'm pretty new to knitting but am really enjoying it. So far I've mostly done scarves and beanie hats but I have some bootie patterns I'm going to try and I even started a blanket.

Baby Boomer Knitter
I just want to say hi! This is my first blog. I love the website. I come here a lot. Never blogged but read them. I have been knitting for a little over a year now. I used to knit when I was a kid, my mother taught me. I knit and crochet. I like knitting better, but crochet is faster for me. I love the videos. They helped me a lot. I will be back with many questions.

Hi, I'm Jenny and I'm mama to 4 little ones. I'm learning how to knit using the great videos here! My mom has knit for years and for some reason never taught me! (she says I never wanted to learn ) Anyhow, we are having fun together with all the knitting stuff now! My goal is to make my 10 month old a pair of soakers and shorties. I have some lovely yarn I bought on Hyena Cart and am just waiting to get the right sized needles!

Hello! I just got the hang of this knitting thing and I'm searching for easy ideas for a first (well, second if you count my scarf) project.
