Very old yarn
Hi all, i'm getting on late but need your advice on this situation. My group received a very large donation of 100% wool yarn. The yarn looked great and there were so many colors and weights as well. When I got it home, however I started to notice that tiny worms were in the yarn plus it had a very musky odor. I actually picked up on the odor before I got the yarn home but thought it was from staying in plastic bags too long. My question: should I toss this yarn or try to air it out and use it. Any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks for any advice.

I'd toss it as far as I could. It sounds like moths have gotten to it. Keep it as far away from your own wool as you can and get rid of it.

Sorry I haven't been around....
I have planted a huge garden this year and it has been taking all of my time. I also started to deliver 2 newspaper routes on Monday to Friday. It amounts to 50 newspapers per day. I just finished a dishcloth on Wednesday that has been sittting in my knitting basket since May.
I tried to add on the map but it was blocking me and wouldn't move to the right place.

Newbie
Good Morning All!

I am new to this forum as well as knitting. I have been knitting for about 3 weeks now. This site was a HUGE life saver when I was trying to understand what the patterns meant. I have completed some letter squares as well as a Texas square. I just started a baby blanket that I am excited about. I hope and pray it will turn out okay.

I just wanted to stay hello to you all. I am sure I will be asking questions when they arise.

Thanks for all your help!
Sharnie

Sharnie,

In your signature, you say you love to Cachin.. Is that like in Geocaching? If so there is a few of us on here who Cache.

Welcome to the KH.

How do I purl & knit in the same row?
I can knit & purl (I'm currently working on a stockinette stitch
afgan), but I cannot figure out how to knit & purl in the same row, beyond the first row. If someone could offer some helpful hints, or stear me in the direction of a good video how-to, I'll be forever greatful. Thanks in advance.

When you knit the yarn is in the back, and when you purl, the yarn is in the front, right? When you want to switch from knit to purl, bring the yarn to the front between the needles and purl. When you want to knit again, bring the yarn to the back between the needles and knit.
