Hi JGM, glad to have you in the knitting world. While I was teaching in a lys we had a few men come in to buy yarn but non of them needed lessons. One was a fisherman in Alaska and knit as there was nothing else to do excpt things he didn't want to get involved in. He knit sweaters for homeless while there and always stocked up on yarn before then next trip back.

That is totally awesome If I had thought of an Alaskian fisherman (before you told this story).. I don't think I would have pictured him knitting sweaters for the homeless...
