Hi Amy,
I love your site I am new to knitting,I have taken several classes and have never been able to get it. I recently took a class at "lovely yarns" in baltimore...and I got it. Thanks to Susan, she suggested that all of us new students go to your site. I was very reluctant because I am a hands on person. One night around 2 am I had a little problem and I wanted to fix it then and not have to go the next day to the shop. What a wonderful surprize to meet you and your lovely hands. What ever it was I got through it and I frequenly visit you when I am in trouble or want to learn something new. Thank you agian you are a angel. Thank you again and again.

New to site...Hello!
I'm Rhonda, and am new to this site, as I have been knitting for years, but only know two afghan patterns. So needless to say, I knitt off and on, but think that I might be at the age that I really may be wanting to get into it more and more. I have been online searching for a good deal on yarn for my next afghan, and need some help please. I want something soft, durable, but not hard to work with. I see this "Lion Incredible"...
http://cgi.ebay.com/LION-BRAND-INCRE...742.m153.l1262
(copy and paste in a browser) and was wondering about it.

Thanks for any help!

I would not use clear quilting thread if I were you. The thread would probably stick out of the seams, because it won't shrink like the wool when it's felted. You should use the same yarn for the seaming that you used for the knitting of the bag. Then, it will match perfectly. Good luck!

Hi Rhonda. I would not recommend Lion Incredible for an afghan. It is a ribbon yarn that works well for summer tops and shawls. Afghans turn out best if you use wool or acrylic yarn. If you're on a budget, I would recommend Vanna's Choice or Lion Wool-ease or even Red Heart Super Saver. Those three yarns would hold up well for an afghan, and would wash and dry well.

Here is a beginner knitting pattern to make mittens with two needles:
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/khs-mittens.html

And here are some patterns for a knitting loom:

If you want to learn how to use the forum, I would recommend just going to the main page - HERE. There are different sections of the forum that you might enjoy. "Whatcha Knitting" is a place where we all talk about our latest projects. "How To Questions" is where you should post your questions, or look for answers. "General Knitting" is for general discussion about knitting, yarn, patterns, and stuff. "Crochet" is for crocheters. "Creating Yarn" is for spinners.

Just click the different sections, and start reading. It will make sense the more you use it. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Welcome! I used the loom this year to make hats and they were a big hit!

Here's a few more loom sites for you to try. I haven't tried mittens yet..but, they're on my list!

http://www.loomknittinghelp.com/
http://yarngear.com/looms/
http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/looms.html

The hat pattern I used is called Horizontal Striped Hat. You'll find it in the freebies on this site.

Have fun!

Hi, I'm Mary and I'm new to the site and am writing to introduce myself. I hope that I'm doing this right. I've been knitting for several years and only recently have begun to try harder projects. I am also trying to get better at correcting mistakes and relaxing my grip on the needles more when I knit. I live in the Midwest and many of my friends have scarves knitted by me keeping them warm this winter.
Thanks for the useful info and have a great day.
