New To The Group
Hello Everyone,

I am new to the group. I have been crocheting for 37 years or more and now I am trying my hand at teaching myself to knit.

I have knitted very small things like a headband, potholder, etc. I really love the Baby Surprise Jacket.

Any help you guys can give me will be appreciated.

Thanks For Sharing,
Dordie

Hi there, I am teaching myself to knit and have a novice question. I am attempting a baby blanket. It called for 120 cast ons and then knit the next row, etc. My questions is why do I end up with more than 120 knit stitches. I hope someone can help with with this. I am tired of starting over and do not know how to correct.

Hello!
Hey everyone. I'm new here and new to the needles in general. I just picked up my first set and cast on about a week ago! I'm definitely learning and am excited to be doing so. It's been fun. Just thought I would introduce myself and what not.

I'm Krys and I'm a 32 year old computer programmer by trade looking for a new hobby and a way to just relax and pass the time. My wife has been knitting and crocheting off and on for a while and I thought that I might pick it up and give it a go as well. So, here I am.

Anyway, what do you all recommend as good beginners projects?

Hello
Hi I love this site and find it so helpful with the videos. I'm a new knitter. I've made a scarf and a wrap I'm so proud. I'm also new to chatting on the internet. I have a question about the Tee I working on now. Since size matters the pattern states to measure from cast on edge do I take the needles out to get the measurement?

Hi Dordie!
If you're looking for help with the Baby Surprise Jacket, there are several discussions in the forum about it.
Here's the knit-along discussion we have:

Here's an offsite webpage about the jacket:

Lots of beginning knitters have trouble adding "mysterious extra stitches" when knitting. Here's a discussion we have in the forum about it:

I made a webpage with links to easy beginner projects. You'll see the link "Beginner Knitting Patterns" in my profile signature below.
Here's a link as well: http://shandehknitting.blogspot.com/...beginning.html

You should leave the needles in the project, and measure from the cast on edge to the top of the knitting needles.

Good luck!
