Good morning Knitting Help!!!

Welcome everyone who showed up overnight!

I am from New York, but near Poughkeepsie, only about 80 miles from NYC. People from the City would consider me 'upstate' but I doubt I'm anywhere near you, Susie. I AM around here alot, though!

I learned from books, and found that having a stationary picture in front of me is helpful. Of course when I started knitting, there were no computers or videos to look at. And I mean the VCR wasn't invented! ( I feel sooo old right now.)

If you want an inexpensive, comprehensive book of knitting directions, The Harmony Guide to knitting is an excellent reference.

Welcome to Susie, Laura, and earthchick, (and anyone else I forgot)

This place is GREAT!

Laura, I'm in Troy, MI, not too far from Windsor, and a lot of my coworkers at my former job were from Canada. I agree, you still learn something new with every new project, and we have some AWESOME knitters here who can answer almost anything!

Susie, I'll be 50 in 6 months, and Ingrid is about our age too. It's great to learn to knit at any age. The videos here are the best knitting instruction I've ever seen, and it's easy to find whatever you need at the moment, plus we all like to give advice whenever we can. GO FOR IT!

earthchick, are you a recent transplant to Ann Arbor? I spent my college years there - many moons ago - and still have season tickets for Michigan football, so I get to Ann Arbor several times every fall. Which church are you associated with? Are you in the "college" area or the non-student part of town?

Again, welcome all and

Happy Knitting :XX: :XX:

Mary

Mary,
Thanks for the welcome and that is neat that you are going to be 50 soon too. I'll be checking out more of the videos as I get time.
I plan to go to my first class on Tuesday and can't wait. I don't have anything at all for yarn or anything so it should be fun.
Susie

Susie, you'll have to let us know how the first class goes!

Hi Mary! I moved to Ann Arbor from Georgia almost 5 years ago (in the middle of winter - quite a shock! ) DH and I pastor First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor, just a few steps away from central campus (we also are the campus ministers for the American Baptist Campus Foundation, which is housed at our church). We live 5 blocks from the stadium - so game days in our neighborhood are pretty nuts! (it's pretty cool to be able to hear the band and the cheers from our house; not so cool to have people who park on our streets leaving their trash in our yard!) Thanks for the welcome - it's nice to "meet" another SE Michigander!
