hey tena! you sound just like me.
the way i taught myself to knit was, i read how to do a k and then how to do a p and i bought a ball of yarn and would k one row and p one row until the end of the ball..then i would unravel it all and do it all over again..i did this for about 3 months..then i recently ventured out and tried a pattern. i have since made 3 wrist bands and 2 snoods!
i used to get fristrated when my count was off or had dropped a stitch or added one..but i've figured out how to corrct that now lol. i can follow a pattern pretty well, but i really need to work on my tenion.
i've been lurkin this site for a few monthes and i have finally decided to join and be more active.
this really is a great site!

Welcome to all of you!

I learned to knit by watching all the free videos on the internet (like the ones on our site, created by Amy Finlay). It was much easier to learn this way. SO glad the internet is here now.

Looking forward to getting to know you all in the KH Forum.

This is my first time visiting this site, hope this works. I have not knitted in years & would like to start up again. I have a simple pattern with the direction: *knit into the stitch on the row below. I do not know what this means. Can you help?

Is it for an increase, or for a rib type pattern? If it's an increase, there's a video on the Increases page under KRL. If it's not, then on the Glossary page you'll find it under k-b.

Welcome.

Hellooo! My name is Persephone, and I want to thank you very much for this site; I have learned muchly from it. I've knitted before, but it's just been very simple knitting: scarves of ribbing basically. I've done more crocheting (someone taught me how around January, and I really enjoy it), but I want to try more things and become more knowledgeable in the world of knitting. I watched all the vids on this site, and they were very helpful, so now I need actually do more knitting projects.
Lately I've been really enjoying crocheting amigurumi and browsing ravelry like crazy. I keep coming across knitted things I like, and I really don't want to limit myself to just crochet. So here I am.
:D

And, btw, thank you very much for providing this place to ask questions; I definitely have a question! I'm gonna post it in Pattern Central right now.
