Welcome enchant and csjones!
We're happy that you joined us. There are several threads in General Knitting, How-tos, Pattern Central and What'cha that may be helpful. The Stickies at the beginning of the sections are good and the videos and Glossary are always great for reference. That's just to begin.
Have fun looking around.

Hello..
Hi there! My name is Nicole. I am a self taught knitter since 2009. I stick to pretty basic beginner patterns because I am comfortable with them. But I am ready to expand and learn how to read more difficult patterns and learn new stitches and techniques. I normally knit English style, although I taught myself Continental. Continental takes me a long time and my gauge is not consistent. My English style is better, but I am a tight stitch. I am working on that. Anyways, I mainly knit baby blankets, cowls, scarfs, and throws. I know how to do basic crochet as well.

I look forward to learning new things and the exchange of help and patterns!

Howdy
I am new to this site, and sort of new to knitting....learned many years ago as a child, but the years and life went by, then had serious hand problems, but long story short, I am back to the needles and hooks. I only use circulars now, but I CAN knit now...

I am amazed at all the new gorgeous yarns and wonderful patterns.

But...I scored a zillion old knitting pamphlets and magazines today at the thrift store and found an ad for THE FREEDOM SWEATER, by Jacqueline Olsen hours later (almost 1 a.m. now) I found myself here! Amazing Threads was NO help, and can't find it anywhere. :(
I am a slow knitter and Christmas is right around the corner...I need to get (gosh I love your stuff here!)

So I know someone else wanted this pattern a while ago, and eventually managed to acquire it...hoping I will get that lucky too!

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help and Welcome!

I will be signing off now, but will be back on after my garden chores tomorrow....

talk to you then, good night
