My Ribby Cardi's Done! YAY!

I finally finished my ribby cardi. Photos are on my blog if you'd like to see. Next thing I need to do is learn how to sew....LOL I paid $20 to a seamstress to put the zipper in...if I make just a few cardigans over the years, that's enough to buy a sewing machine....LOL

Thanks for looking....I'm happy with the way this project turned out and I'll be doing it again. It's a fun and relatively quick knit.

Roxanne, that is beautiful! I am new to knitting, only a few months now and am dying to try something like that, but am afraid it will be too hard for my beginner fingers. Where did you get the pattern and did you find it fairly easy?

Hello Everyone...thanks for all your kind comments....I'm really excited to have finished my cardigan...and mostly excited because I figured out seaming....LOL

Sara...I got the pattern from chicknits.com* and as for easy-ness of the pattern...it's actually not too bad...you have to know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease and then of course, seaming once you're finished. The newest stitch I learnt while doing it was SSK and with the help of this website, I figured it out no problem. I'm also relatively new to knitting and this is my second sweater.

I say jump in and try...you won't know until you try how to do garments and like anything else, you will learn a lot of things along the way but you have to jump in and do one. I threw caution to the wind the first time and just went for it...there's so many good instructions you can find online to help you along too.

It's also not a really expensive project to make...the yarn is reasonable and so is the pattern. For that reason, it's also a really great newbie project. There is a knit-along going on for this garment too where you can ask questions:

Roxanne, this might be too forward of me, but may I ask how much you spent on supplies for the cardi? Minus the seamstress of course, LOL!

Hi Denise,

No problem! I got the Peruvian Highland Wool from Elann.com and bought 12 skeins at $2.70 per skein for a total of $32.40 and then with shipping and taxes, it came up to $41.73. And that's in Canadian funds too.

So for wool, that wasn't too bad at all.

And the pattern was $4.95 US from chicknits.com which wasn't bad either. At least it's not in a book of patterns that's $20 or more.

I already had the needles (they were a gift for Christmas) and that can vary depending on what you want to use.
