intarsia woes
ok... I just needed to come and vent my frustration. I'm knitting a soaker and it was going so well that I thought i would teach myself intarsia and throw a picture on the back of it. Well, I decided to do the monkey from the Stitch and Bitch book and it's turned into a disaster! I guess I didn't know how to read a chart after all because I'm noticing the pattern is showing up the wrong way. I'm figuring I didn't read it right when switching from knit rows to purl rows. So I guess my question is, how exactly do you read a knitting chart? I think I need to go rip out the entire picture and start over now.

I think you read the knit rows from right to left, and the purl rows from left to right. this site has a good graphic of how to do this, if you're a visual person like me. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, I *know* I say this all the time, but check the stitch and bitch website for pattern corrections! A lot of them had errors!
I'm back!
