Need help w/decreasing in pattern

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting here, but, I lurk ALL the time

This is a simple question, I'm just drawing a blank. I'm just making a super simple ribbed hat for my daughter and am wondering how to decrease in pattern. I'm using a K2P1 pattern. Thanks in advance!

Since you won't be able to keep a strict K2, P1 pattern once you start dec'ing, I think you just purl the knits and knit the purls as you come to them to keep the ribbing the same. I don't have a test swatch, so I'm working off of a mental picture. :thinking:

IF you are in the round....and are doing a knit two then purl one....I would pick up knit and purl stich and knit themtogether each time and space tje, evenly so it would like like the purl stiches were disapearing and mearging into stockinette at the crown.
