 you know, I was thinking about this for the past few days and a few thoughts popped into my head. Perhaps you could take a couple of dowels, shaped into your ideal size, with the ends tapered down to fit inside of the shrink tubing that is used on computer wires. You would just slip the needles into the shrink tubing, turn on the heating gun and the plastic would tightly seal onto the wood. The initial cost would, of course, be the tubing, about $34 dollars for a 100 foot spool and the shrink gun,(which you can pick up at Harbor Freight for about $20 or from here) but then for the cost of maybe 3-4 Addi Turbos, you could make a whole mess of circs.

You could make some really cool colors and even some UV reactive colors for when you want to knit under your blacklight.

That sounds like a nifty idea!!! And, I know someone who could find other uses for computer wire...

Could you use a low temp hair dryer instead of the shrink wrap gun?

I'm not sure. I wouldn't think that you could, though. I've seen guns range from as little as 10 dollars to as much as 200. Even a cheap gun would work for this simple task, though.
