I've been knitting for about a year and doing okay - but this has me stumped. K1, K2tog, k to last 3 sts, sl1-k1-psso, k1. Then I have 24 stiches. I completely get that part. THEN it says: Dec in this way at each end of 2 foll 4th rows and next 2 RS rows. 16 sts. I know the abbreviations, but don't know what it means. I'm confused about the "2 foll 4th row". Does that mean I knit three rows and then decrease? Or do I just decrease in the pattern each row, for 4 rows? and then decrease every other row? The pattern doesn't give me total number of rows for this set of instructions - so I can figure it out backwards (like I normally do) Then it says Dec 1 st at end of next 3 RS rows. 13 sts. I'm pretty sure that means I decrease every other row (for 6 rows total, and 13 sts) but as long as I'm posting, I thought I would check. Thanks for anyone who can help me out.

"Dec this way at each end of 2 foll 4th rows" means you'll knit 3 rows straight then decrease as indicated on the next row. Do this a second time so you've done decreases twice over the corse of 8 rows.

Any time it says to decreas on RS rows, it's essentially saying, "decrease every other row" for whatever number of multiples indicated.

So for your second question, you have it right, you will decrease 3 times over 6 rows and be left with 13 remaining stitches.

Work in pattern for three rows, then decrease again - 22 stitches. Work in pattern for three rows, then decrease again - 20 stitches. Work one row, then do decrease row - 18 stitches Work one row, then do decrease row - 16 stitches All the decrease rows are right side rows, so on the next 3 RS rows decrease at END of rows only, with wrong side rows worked in pattern and you should have 13 stitches. Happy Knitting! Mary
