The beauty of this pattern is that you can do any number of stitches you want, as long as it's in multiples of 8. So, yes, the first and final 8 stitches on each row is in seed stitch, as well as the first 8 rows and the last 8 rows. make sense? You can use any worsted yarn and needle size you want too! I used 3 skeins for mine. It turned out sort of rectangular though because I am planning it as a nursing shawl. if you wanted a crib blanket size, you would need about 6 skeins (depending on the weight of your yarn, of course).
