No Greenville, NC
Hi

Thanks for your response, however I did not see any for Greenville, NC. Do you think I should try Micheal's or maybe they could refer me to a knitter in town?

WOW! You really are in the middle of nowhere! The closest one is about 90 miles from you, poor thing!

The Michaels near me DOES have knitting classes every once in a while...but, have you checked out the "Getting Started" videos here? They really are VERY good.

You are in Eastern NC and unfortunately, there aren't many yarn shops in those "parts"...I am originally from Dunn (near Raleigh)...I heard that there was a yarn shop in Wilson, which is about 45 minutes from you...I googled and here is the info:

Knit Wit of Wilson
Barbara Frantz, 2801-1B Ward Boulevard North, Wilson, NC 27896, 919.291.8149

Also, you aren't but about an hour from Raleigh and Cary...a couple of nice shops in those cities....BUT...I would recommend that you buy the SNB book and WATCH AMY'S VIDEOS as well as ask questions when you get "stuck"...I haven't taken an official class and have learned almost everything thus far from KNITTINGHELP.COM....I think you'll find that you can learn almost anything here and with the SNB book...this is one great site

It's a book by Debbie Stoller....Official name is Stitch 'N Bitch and you can purchase it online through Barnes and Noble or Amazon and most book stores carry the book. It's a very good reference book when you're just beginning.

I think the videos on KNITTINGHELP.COM will help you more than anything else...just start from the "Getting Started" tab above, then go through the basic technique videos...IMO-continental knitting is the way to go for ease of learning, but again, that is personal preference...the continental videos are the ones with the pink icons.

I started knitting in November, 2004...was shown how to do only the knit stitch and purchased the SNB book...I didn't find this site until January and have found it to be like having a teacher online...and without feeling the pressure of a "class" There are some great knitters on this forum and they're always willing to help. Just remember...do not get too frustrated...it takes lots of practice and there's always something to learn or ways to improve your technique once you do get the hang of it...soon, you will find yourself :XX:

greenville nc knitting lessons
I can't believe it! I just came on line looking for the exact same thing. I will be moving from Massachusetts to Greenville at the end of the summer and love to knit. I am currently in a knitting group and will miss it when I leave. I also want to find other knitters in the greenville area.
