Circular Needle Size / length??

Hi there everyone! I'm looking to purchase a circular needle to knit a baby blanket. The blanket will be 36 inches (when done), and I had to cast on 175 stitches. What length circular needle do I need? I thought either a 32 or 40 inch needle? (size 6, but the length is my question).

you could probably even do it on a 24 but it would be a bit more cumbersome. i liked doing those on the 32s.
