Collar HELP PLEASE

I am at the collar part of a cardigan sweater..
Its been a long time since I put a collar on a cardigan..

The directions say to Pick up the collar stitches on the R. S. of the sweater...
Now when you do this don't you have the "seam" where you picked up sort of showing ??
if I picked up on the WS of the sweater and the collar folded down .. wouldn't it them sort of "cover" the seam???
I'm very confused and I need to get this sweater done NOW...
Please .. is there somewhere where I can see how to knit a collar on a cardi OR does someone have GOOD instructions to do it......

You want the collar to come up from the neck a bit before folding over to create the lapels. So you'll want the seam to be on the inside. Pick up the stitches from the right side and knit as directed. The seam will be on the inside.
