kid's hat

I just found this website and I think It's great!
This is my first time in the forum. I need some help please!
I'm trying to make a hat for my friend's daugther, She is a year and a half old and I don't know how many stiches I should cast!
The yarn I want to use is "Patons Up Country" needles 10 1/2 ( straigth, not circular) USA.

There are lots of hat patterns to choose from here. There are a lot, but you can start with checking for ones that use yarn the same weight and needles the size you want to use.

Someone else may come up with a specific pattern.
