A"Manly" Hat?

Another easy alternative for a cold weather hat: when it's done, get some lightweight polar fleece in a coordinating or dark color. Cut it to fit inside the hat (not counting the part above the decreases). It's basically a tube the diameter of the hat. Handstitch with matching thread. It's much easier than it probably sounds and makes a huge difference, especially if the hat is going to be worn in the wind.

Okay, so the decreases aren't terrific. I made it up as I went along and could have done MUCH better...I think I'll make him a doubleknit hat and send it to him for Christmas, when I have more time. But it covers my ears and is quite large on my head, so it SHOULD fit him. I'm really disappointed at how plain it is, but that's what he wanted, so I suppose I should get over it.
