blocking

I have a question that stems from Carol_OH's post in the Finished Items thread...

Are you supposed to block acrylic? I mean, i get that natural fibers need to relax and that the steam or water helps them ease into their final shape, but does that also hold true for unnatural fibers? Does washing do anything for it?

I only ask because i've made two baby blankets with a really soft acrylic and i've sent them off already. I never blocked them because i didn't think i had to, but perhaps i should have..??

No, you don't really have to block acrylic. Sometimes if you get some curling or you want to flatten it out a bit, you can steam it. When you wash it it will go back to the way it was.
