Your favorite knitting book
I've been asked what I want for Christmas, and all I want is knitting stuff! Instead of just asking for a gift certificate to my local yarn shop, I thought I might ask for some books. I bought The Knitter's Bible last weekend and I love it, but I'm wondering if there are some other fantastic books out there. What's your favorite and why?

My favourite knitting book is Cat Bordhi, A Second Treasury of Magical Knitting. http://www.catbordhi.com/2nd_treasury.html
Why?
Because the book is beautiful and I love the way she learns me to knit beautiful things!

I really the Stich N Bitch books. They give great instructions that are easy to understand and have a ton of fun patterns. I also like my Vogue Knitting book; it's a great reference and has a guide to a lot of stich patterns. You might just want to go your local book store and just browse through all they have. You will probably get a better feel for the book and really know if it will have patterns you'd actually want to do. But becareful, because you might end up wanting to buy them all yourself!

Hi! I have the knitters bible and I love that book too! I also have the stitch-n-bitch book. i want to get an elizabeth zimmerman book - but i'm just a beginner and her books don't quite make sense to me yet. I'm hoping to be enlightened soon!

I've also heard that knitting on the edge is good.... Good Luck!

LOL - Lisa! That's what I did last weekend - I went to Borders to just LOOK at the knitting books to see which one I could tell DH I wanted for Christmas. I was supposed to tell him The Knitter's Bible would be a nice gift, but I could not wait. I also bought 2 knitting magazines that night. Had DH NOT been with me, I may have bought MORE books! LOL. I think it's too dangerous for me to go browse knitting books! I'm just not strong enough! :D

Ronda - I know! Every time I go to Barnes and Noble I end up sitting in a corner in front of all the knitting books with fifty of them spread around me. Luckily there hasn't been any other customers that also want to look at the same books! It's so hard to resist them all!!

I like the Stitch 'n Bitch book (original one), Last Minute Knitted Gifts, and First Knits. I think First Knits is a really excellent for working through certain techniques step-by-step. And the projects are really nice.

I have also put some knitting books on my Christmas list...25 Bags to Knit, Stitch n' Bitch, and Felted Knits.
One book I have right now from the library is Hollywood Knits Style by Suss Cousins. I really it and am thinking of buying it for me. It has some really great patterns in it!
