finishing a sweater
I am about to finish my sweater -- I've found directions for Kitchener stitch - but when they show how to do it - the sides of the sweater that are being stitched together are already on needles, do I pick up the stitches before I stitch the pieces together?

Not sure what you mean about it still being on the needles -- when I've finished sweaters I can assure you they've been fully off the needles. :D There are some fabulous photos of mattress stitch here...and a great explanation. HTH!
