Is there a tutorial on yarns out there somewhere?
I'm new to knitting and fascinating by the variety of yarns available. I have to admit I am really confused about several descriptions of yarns, what they mean, what the properties of different yarns are, etc.

Is there a tutorial out there that anyone knows of?

If not, maybe I will just torture everyone by laboriously posting every question I can think of.

I can see that being a yarn geek is in my future! As if I needed any help in the geek department! LOL.

You could check out http://www.knitty.com and Knitter's Review. Both have excellent features on yarn, techniques, accessories, etc.

If you want to research a particular yarn or learn what yarns are equivalent in terms of weight, content, etc, try http://www.yarndex.com/home.cfm.

I'm sure there are lots of other resources too. Everyone?

IMO it would be a great idea to familiarize yourself with this chart. Just overall good stuff to know!

Alot of "learn to knit" type books have chapters devoted to yarns...You may want to spend some time at your library or Borders...places you can sit, browse and read!

OOhh...I think that a field trip would enhance your learning process. Print out one of the suggested guides and then go feel up some yarn!
