Aran knit poncho/sweater

I haven't tried cables yet or "sweater like" arms/neck so it should be interesting.
Anybody else interested?
Haven't decided on yarn yet--any suggestions?

Hildegard= So if you're doing a monthly cable Kal, does that mean that a person picks out any project with cables and joins in with you? I just picked up some Woolease on sale at JoAnns that I with try with this project. I really want to be a yarn snob, but I just can't bring myself to spend the amount of money it would take for a project like this.

Virtuella, I was also thinking about knitting this for my sister. But I just started a regular poncho for her, so I might just make this one for me!!!

I agree. I have a problem with the more expensive yarns. There is such diversity in the affordable yarn catagory, that for most projects, I can fake it with affordables. Lion has started making some really nice blends. There is a cashmere blend, and they have a new merino blend. It isn't the real thing, but it is a nice facsimile for the funding impaired like me! :-)
