I love the hat, Ang! It looks like the pic, so kudos to you!

The band on the model's hat does look more narrow, though, by about an inch or or inch and a half even, which explains the chef-like look of yours.

Still, it's adorable, so block it, wear it, and revel in its chef-like gorgeousness!

Oh, here's what you could also do: put a pom on the top. Then you'll have made the first-ever chef's tam! Perfect for chasing chickens whilst you play your bagpipes! (Kilt optional :D)

Well, I'm with everyone else here - it's FABULOUS and it does look just like the picture. perhaps you've placed your subject (you) too close to the camera? (forgive the photography reference - I just went to a seminar). I also think blocking should help - though I'm as lost as you as to how one block's a hat like that.??? :thinking: The frisbee is an intriguing idea but I'm having difficulty picturing which direction the frisbee goes? LOL

You did a FANTASTIC job on the hat, just like Hilde said, it's tighter on the model and a bit flatter...of course..they are at a photo shoot & it could be pinned to make it tighter on the model, any # of things. I like the hat, play around with postitioning it on your head :D ! please, please don't be discouraged!! BC it's a great job of knitting. I think a darker color perhaps and smaller yarn will get the effect you are looking for...for a narrower cabling brim of the hat & lesser amt of poofiness...but that can be taken care of if you play around with positioning like everyone has said, I bet

I really love the hat. You said it was wool. Maybe if you think part of it is too large you could shrink it on purpose. Regardless, the stitching is absolutely beautiful. You have talent with the needles!

It's SO warm!!!!

OK, I finally broke down and wore the hat. Forgot to tell you guys that I did block it but... there was this minor incident. My DD was trying to be helpful and threw it in the dryer - I saved it before full felting! It must have only been in for a couple of minutes.

Anyway, it shrunk a bit and fits tighter around my head so I decided to wear it tonight. It's freezing here! Rain mixed with sleet and just awful - a mean wind too! So I'm out walking the dog in the cap and...

It is the warmest cap that I've ever worn! I pulled it down low over my ears and it was so nice and snuggy! My DH said that I looked really cute in it and should wear it all the time. I am amazed at how nice and cozy it is!

I just wanted to share that I wore the Swedish chef cap and it didn't even occur to me that it might look funny. All that mattered was that I was warm and my head stayed nice and dry!
