Who makes nice self-striping (soft) yarn?

I want to make a scarf and hat for my DS and myself... I bought some Noro, but it seems a bit scratchy and I'm not sure if I should use it or not.

I know Karaoke is supposed to be wonderful, but it's awfully expensive...

Are there any other nice self-striping yarns out there that would be suitable for hat/scarf?

The scarf I made for myself with the Karaoke took three skeins, so the total cost, if you got the yarn from www.kpixie.com with a 10% discount for signing up for their newsletter would be about $22 plus shipping. Not that bad, really. In fact, less than the Noro.

Just a thought. I had it on my face today to block the wind and not a bit of scratchiness.

Yes, KARAOKE ROCKS!!!!....AIN'T NO DOUBT..and... www.kpixie.com got the color that Ingrid and I used in... #278, mermaid mix..of course, I'm hard pressed to choose which one I will use next...if you go to www.soysilk.com which is the parent company for Karaoke, you can get some bigger pics of the coloring
