Another glove question

I am at the part of the glove that will begin to shape the thumb. These are knit flat by the way.
The pattern is a s follows:
row1: (rs) K22, M1, K1, M1, K18. (39 STS)
Work 3 rows
row5: (rs) K22, M1, K3, M1, K18 (45 STS)
Work 3 rows
Cont to inc as above on next row and every foll fourth row to 53 sts.

My question is where to place the increases. As I see it my next increase row should be
K22, M1, K5,M1,K18
THEN
K22, M1, K7, M1, K18
and so on....increasing the number of sts between the m1's by two each time.

Am I on the right track here????
