Is yarn on cones the same as skeins or balls?
This may sound like a dumb question; but I sometimes see yarn I want on eBay, but it will be in 1lb cones. I assume it's that way for knitting machines, but am wondering if it works just as well on needles?

I think it all depends on what the yarn is that's wrapped around the cones. I bought a cone of Sugar and Cream once upon a time, and it's just the same.

If they're clear as to what the yarn is, then the way it's packaged shouldn't matter. Yes, they're probably but on cones for people who use it in bulk, but that doesn't mean that you can't use it for hand knitting, too.

Thanks, Ingrid. The yarn I'm thinking of bidding on says it's Lamb's Pride Worsted, which is what I'm wanting.
