New to Cabling
Ok so I want to make a cabled scarf for my dad for Christmas. I am having problems deciding which pattern to choose.

Before today I have never cabled before. But I decided to give it a try and after pulling things out a few times I think I've got it.

Do you have any advice for a new "cabler"?

Here are the patterns I am trying to choose from:

http://www.yarnagogo.com/good_ole_cabled_scarf/

http://www.helloyarn.com/besottedcarf.htm

The first one has 1 cable and the second one has 6, I think. I really wanted two cables on the scarf but I couldn't find a pattern for it.

Thanks!
Jen

You could add a cable to the first one...or coincidentally I have a pattern for a scarf with 2 cables here: http://divaknitting.com/patterns/junescarf.pdf

OOoooh pretty Kemp! Ya know I'm knitting the irish hiking scarf from the hello yarn website. It is very easy. The cable only goes one way. cables are super easy. Don't be intimidated. We won't let you screw up anyway.

I started the Irish Walking Scarf yesterday. I love it! I can't believe how easy it is to cable. I thought it would be much more difficult. I have about 10 inches done so far. Looks like I might make it in time for Christmas!

I still want to make the besotted scarf but I think I would be better off waiting until I have finished this one, so I will have some experience.

Thanks for all the advice. I will have to post a pic when I am done!
