WIP - basketweave scarf

I am new to knitting. Where did you find the pattern for your basketweave scarf with the beautiful edges?

I didn't have a pattern. there are different ways to do basketweave. mine is a stockinette/reverse stockinette checkerboard. I lost my knitting notebook early this year, but lemme see if I can remember how I did it:

cast on 25 stitches

4 row garter border:
row 1 (RS) : slip 1st stitch purlwise, then K to end
2nd through 4th rows: same as row 1

first "row" of garter edge and basketweave checkerboard squares:
slip all 1st stitches purlwise
row 5 (RS): K10 P5 K10
row 6 (WS): K5 P5 K5 P5 K5
row 7 (RS): repeat row 5
row 8 (WS): repeat row 6

second "row" of garter edge and basketweave checkerboard squares:
slip all 1st stitches purlwise
row 9 (RS): K5 P5 K5 P5 K5
row 10: (WS): K10 P5 K10
row 11 (RS): repeat row 9
row 12 (WS): repeat row 10

repeat these 2 "rows" until scarf is desired length.
finish with 4 row garter border.

I like your particular basketweave; I have seen many and some are more appealing to me than others.

Can anyone here tell me what the multiples of this particular basketweave pattern are? I'd like to make an afghan from it.

I am a novice knitter and wouldn't dare try to figure this out myself - I'd be sure to mess it up!

I love the basketweave pattern too - it's turning out beautiful! And I pretty much always slip the first stitch of a row - I really prefer that edge. Can't wait to see it finished!
