Wanted: Irish/Aran afghan/throw pattern
Howdy y'all. I'm looking for some patterns Irish/Aran cabled afghans or throws to knit for my mom. So far the only thing I've come across is one sampler one on i think the Lionbrand site that I don't like so much and another on knittingpatterncentral.com; it's nice but I'd just like to look at some others.

I'm a fairly new knitter so I'm not up on all the best pattern sites. Anybody got a linky for a good place to look for Irish patterns?

thanks!

I guess now would be the time to own up to the fact that I have no idea how to read charts. Oops... Is there anyway to get a picture of what that would look like? I'm not so good at visualizing this type of stuff in my head.

I tried to find a picture of the finished afghan, but this is what I came up with. Some of the squares have pictures with them.

I don't have a link -- I'll search around for it -- but there was a really neat aran sampler afghan on Knitty Gritty (diynet.com - search for Knitty Gritty). You made 12 X 12 sampler squares with different aran patterns, and it was beautiful!

Found it! http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_..._36324,00.html

I liked the idea of this throw because you make the sampler squares -- no getting bored with knitting the same thing for rows after row :D
