I bought some Bernat's Cotton Tots in Grape to make hat for the 12 yr old girl. The problem is I don't now how big to make it. I don't have or know a 12 yr old. About how large is the head measurement? And I'm assuming since they don't have hair it may be a bit smaller?

I was thinking of doing the scrunchable hat... does that sound like a good thing with that yarn? I've never made anything except dishcloths with cotton.
Do you think cuff or no cuff for a kid this age?

I would say no cuff for a 12yr old girl....Julie lace edged hat or something similar would be CUTE!

Okay...and I forgot I had that pattern! The one I made before was too small for me so it might be perfect for a 12 yr old..it fits my 10 yr old niece. Thanks!

Wow... She's going to be spoilt from me :P I'm also considering making a pair of these, but making the cuff a little bit longer. I have some olive green that would be perfect, and maybe embelish it a little bit better.
Jenelle!! You are going to be busy!! And, yes, she is going to be spoiled!! I can't wait to see what you're sending!!!

Oh, and I was wondering, where are you getting the pattern for the kitty???

Still wondering about measurements for a 12 yr old...

...and now that Kelly suggested the lace edge cap I was wondering if the lacy edge is a problem because you can see through it a bit. I figure the whole idea of a chemo cap is to cover the head?

I'd just make it to fit the head, so that it doesn't cover her eyes.

That's a good idea, Jenelle. Hey you're 13..how big is your head measurement? You measure around the head where the edge of a hat goes...like from the nape to the forehead.
