Hi Julie:

I would love to contribute too!! I have a few projects on the go, so it would definitely be a 'whenever I get to it' type thing, but I thought I would stick with the under two years crowd. There are plenty of ideas for hats and things.

Let me know if you can pair me up with someone specific? (And is the 5mo old still available to knit for? I have lots of baby patterns)

Thanks!!

Edited to add that I would love to make Todd (22yo) a newsboy cap. Do you know him? Would he like it? What color?

Hi Katy --

Thanks for jumping in!! Your note made me realize that I probably need to update the list w/ more appropriate ages because, for instance, Joseph is about 8 mos old now!

I think that you could probably knit just about anything, and they would be able to pair it up with a patient. I know that my friend in the Child Life Center has been quite thrilled w/ the items that have come in. Naturally, they like the caps that have been sent, but she's also been amazed at some of the more out-of-the ordinary things that you all have sent. So, I think that perhaps felted bags, clogs, cool & soft scarves as well as caps would all be welcome. Of course, there's always the stuffed bunnies and teddy bears, too!

As for Todd ... I have met his Mom, but I haven't really talked w/ him much. The chemo has been pretty hard on him, and the one or two times I've been there when he was, he was pretty withdrawn. You could go ahead & make the cap, though, and if the nurses in the chemo clinic didn't think he'd like it, I'm sure they could find someone to pair it up with.

I know that's not much help, is it?

Hey Julie:

Next time you get a chance (and of course dont be tooo nosy!!lol) could you find out if Todd likes anything in particular, like sports or harry potter or cars or whatever? It would help me to pick something to knit for him, besides the newsboy.

THanks!

Katy --

I'll do what I can, but I really don't see them anymore since my DS is out of treatment now (). I will drop a note to the Child Life Specialist, though, and see if she can pass anything on to me. I'll let you know if I hear anything back!!

Thanks again!

Hi Julie -
I'll probably be sending out Collette's hipster tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with it - hope she'll like it!

That was the best news about Patrick! Hope he stays well. Did you have a chance to pick out a different boy for me? Around that age? Or do you think the older young man? (22? I can't think of his name, sorry.)

Thanks a bunch!

Katy & Amy --

Looks like you *both* want to knit something for the 22yo guy. I just sent a note off to the Child Life Specialist. I'll let you know what I hear.

My immediate thoughts are that you may want to pick different kids to knit for. Personally, I'm having trouble coming up with any good ideas for a guy his age that would be appropriate for summer time. Of course, I'm not feeling particularly inspired at the moment 'cause I'm sleepy.

What do you all think?

Hi Julie - Maybe you don't know because with your DS not being in tx any more - but it looks like there were 3 15 year old boys (at your last update). I'll do something for one of them. Do you know any of them? (Your story about Patrick really inspired me.) If not, please just pick one of them for me, with any hints you can give. Thanks much!

Thanks, horve, for picking someone else-cause I was feeling selfish and unswitchable!! He is in my age group (I am 25) so it wasnt really a stretch (other than the fact that he's the other sex!!), plus, I have plenty of guy friends around that age to ask for suggestions!!

Hopefully I will hear from you soon, Julie, but my immediate thoughts were maybe an ipod case or a book cover or something? Hence the reason I wanted to know about sports teams and things.

K

Katy - not a problem. I'm trying to get close to my kids' ages, and actually 15 is closer to my DS (17). I just thought maybe noone would pick the 22 yr old because he's "not a kid".
