How to finish a strap on a bootie?

Hi all,
I am working on my first big project, mary janes for my twin girls. The shoes are knit all in one piece, and I've just finished the first one, EXCEPT for the 5 stitches I left on a safety pin to form the strap. The instructions say to now go back and knit the required rows for the strap. How do I get my yarn over there to do that?? Thanks for your help! Elizabeth

Welcome! I'd say your first big project was twins! :D

You won't be able to just bring the yarn over to the pin, if that's what you were thinking. Just cut your yarn and slip the stitches from the holder to the needle and start knitting from there with your yarn.
