Tubey Troubles
Okay, I don't know what went on, but apparently my flat back section has about half as many rows as it should. When picking up for the body, I could only get 49 stitches and I'm supposed to have 86. I am NOT frogging this whole thing, so if no one has any suggestions, I guess I'll have myself a shrug.

All I can think of is that you picked up every other row. Maybe you can post a picture and show where you've picked up the stitches?

I don't see how I COULD have picked up every other row, but I'm sure you're right. I can't get a good picture since it's black. I can't figure out how to pick up whatever it is I missed. I mean, if I thought I could do it, I would have. I slipped the first stitch on the beginning of each row, so that's easy to find. I'm missing the ones in between, I guess?
blah. Thanks, Ingrid.

I know you know how to pick up stitches. You are a excellent--and prolific--knitter. But since it fits you you obviously made it correctly so far.
Count your bound off stitches. That might give you an idea.

Okay, it seems like I just missed some...not exactly every other, though. I did it again and came up with 65, so I think my gauge is off on the row side. But you were right, I just wasn't being careful when I was picking them up. I put my glasses on this time. I guess I'll try it again and see if I missed some more in the beginning (totally likely). If not, I'm not sure what to do about it.
Thank you, Ingrid! :D

AFTER you put on your glasses, pick up as many as you can. You can always fudge and increase on the next round.

I've got 73 out of 86...I'm wonder if 13 is too many to fudge. Meh, it's ribbing, it'll stretch and no one will know. Except me. And you. SHHHH!

Nah, it's okay. I'm sure I'll admit to it at some point, anyway. Hey, this is the only way I get anything done! "Oops, wrong number of stitches..ehhhh, I'll fudge it." I don't think I've made anything other than a hat or scarf without having to increase or decrease to fix my screw ups. I pretend that makes me efficient, but it mostly just makes me impatient.
