Baby sock-how long should I make it?

I'm making a pair of baby socks for the lady I work for, and after you do the gusset shaping, it says to continue in rounds for 10 rows, and to then slip the sock on the baby's foot to see the length. Only the big toe should stick out. Problem: the baby is not here yet. How long should I make it? (inches). Any idea? TIA! :D

How old is the baby????

My 4 year old's foot is 6.5" and my 2 year old's foot is 5.5". Maybe you could use that as a point of reference????

Oh....whoops, I see now that the baby isn't even born yet. My measurements will probably be of no use to you then. Let's just say, a baby foot is VERY small! I'd say something like 3".

Yup, just measured my 3 month old baby's foot, and it's three inches from heel to big toe.
