Decrease in k2p2 rib?
I'm flustered - I am working a VK pattern that calls for decreasing in the last row of k2p2 rib, and I can't make my math come out evenly.

114 st on needle - k2p2 rib. Pattern says "on last ws row, decrease 18 stitches evenly across. Switch to larger needles and work St st for 16 inches."

114 st divided by 18 decreases = one decrease ever 6.33 stitches.

I found a decrease calculator for both balanced and unbalanced decreases, but it results in a set of decreases that often stradle a knit and a purl rather than falling squarely on the rib or the valley. Does this matter? Will the last row of the rib look wonky?

What if I just change to the larger needle size and do the decreases on the first stockinette stitch row - will that work ok?

THanks for your help!

If you want to make your decreases on either a k2 or p2 set rather than exactly even, go ahead. The spacing of the decreases is not critical, just as long as they're close.
