I am new to knitting and am trying to make a small tote bag. Pattern from DIY network: Edith's small tote bag. Wondering what purliwise means. I figured out how to cable cast on adn now I'm stuck.

Thanks for your help.

when it says purlwise you are going to stick your needle into the loop like you would if you were going to do a purl stitch.
