Help! I have ambitiously decided to knit some booties for a friend's baby - its my first project from a pattern - and I'm already stuck. They are far too difficult for a novice, but so cute - check out picture!
So - If the beginning of the pattern says:
Cast on 58, Row 1 inc in front and back of 1st st, K29 then inc in each of next 2 sts, K to last st, inc in last stitch; Row 2 K; then Row 3 inc 1st st, K31, inc in each of next 2 sts, k to last st, inc last st; Row 4 K
should I assume I am supposed to be knitting in garter stitch (which is what is happening), or should I be alternating between knit and purl rows? Confusingly it isn't clear which bit of the bootie I'm starting with (I am assuming the sole), so I can't tell from the picture. I'm thrown because later it refers to the RS, which if its garter stitch surely both sides are the same. Also, worryingly, the picture seems to be entirely stocking stitich, either RS knit or RS purl depending on area. Can someone reassure me that I'm meant to bash on with the pattern assuming every row is Knit, as seems to be directed? I know trust the pattern etc, but as I am such a beginner not sure I'm reading it right!
