Is there a locking stitch to prevent stretching
I have a very open stitched and slippery mohair yarn scarf that just keeps stretching longer and more narrow. (Mom made it for me.) Before I start something similar, is there a way to lock a row at the last stitch, or another tip to prevent stretching?

Elizabeth Zimmermant always knitted her scarves circularly and would start out with a smaller number of stitches, and then evenly increase to the number she would want the scarf to be before decreasing in a fashion matched to the increased portion at the other end of the scarf. This makes the scarf
1. Less able to flare
2. Less able to stretch.
3. Reversible in stockinette.

Yay for EZ

stretching scarves
Thanks to AidanM - I guess I am too new - please explain a circular-knit scarf (sounds like a tube dress)
or send me to Elizabeth Zimmermant. Does she create patterns?
I am excited to discover the solution before this scarf drags on the ground.
