Ribbing in the round

Hi - I am a relatively new knitter who has just completed her first hat in the round - and loved it! This time, I want to do the first few rows in a k2p2 rib so that the brim doesn't roll. I know how to do ribbing flat, but my problem with it in the round is this:

How do I bring the yarn from back/front to front/back when I am switching from a knit stitch to a purl stitch? Since the yarn is joined, there is no way to bring it from front to back and it just seems to get twisted and all messy. I am sure there is a simple way to do this that I am completely oblivious to, because all of my books and any of the sites I have been to previously just say to do k2p2 ribbing, like it's super obvious what to do

Ribbing in the round is the same as ribbing flat. Just bring your yarn between your needles. The only difference is that if you do a k2p2 rib, for example, it's always k2p2. Knit the knits and purl the purls. I guess I don't understand what problem you're having with ribbing in the round. :thinking:

You just want to make sure your pattern has a multiple of 4 stitches, so the K2P2 ribbing lines up properly. Otherwise just like Ingrid said, knitting and purling in the round are just like knitting and purling flat.

Do you knit English (working yarn iny your right hand) or continental (in your left hand)?

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you...I went back and did some ribbing flat since it's been a while since I've done even that, and I realized that I just needed to bring the yarn through the tips of the needles like you said, not actually through from one side of the circular needles to the other. I know this probably doesn't make sense, but suffice it to say that I was making it way harder than I should have
