Help/advice - to buy or not to buy?
OK, I need some support/advice here.

My yarn stash is getting quite pitiful after all of my holiday knitting. Well, this is a subjective thing as my husband swears that I have "more than enough yarn for six people"! Yeah, right! I'm going to have to show him some of Ingrid's photos and maybe he will stop with that nonsense!

Anyway... I was checking out Knit Picks and started creating a Wish List. It's up to about $70 with just WOTA and "one or two other things"! So... should I do this? I have never tried the WOTA and am finally taking the plunge to try the Felted clogs (I know, can't believe that I haven't done them yet either!) and... this wool seems perfect! Once I started picking colors, I just couldn't really stop myself So... should I do this? I am really not looking for the financial aspect of things - I'm wrestling with that independently - but more from a standpoint of, "This is great yarn for felting and you won't regret it" or "Just try a little bit before you go all out, you may not like it". I read Amy's post about the pilling sweater and am keeping that firmly in mind. This is fairly project specific (felting stuff) but... I'm unsure.

Next question: how should I do this? Should I use the web site and a credit card? Should I phone them? (I have tried waiting for the "Yarn Fairy" to show up at my house but :( ... she obviously got lost at one of your homes and is gonna be a no-show.) Has anyone had problems with either of these methods?

This is kind of a big purchase for me - I usually sneak in one or two things as a time. So... I am looking for your advice, suggestions or cautionary tales. OK, what do you think? To buy or not to buy?

seriously? you came to us about whether or not you should expand your stash? :rofling: of course you should! if you click into the knitpicks website from this site amy gets credit and a bit of a kick back! i think many of us have ordered from them and the only real complaint any of us have had in ordering is the length of time it sometimes takes to get stuff. when i get enough for the free shipping i always spring for the extra $7 or whatever it is to get it faster...otherwise it seems to take forever to get to me! others have not done that and just went with the free shipping and got it superfast...

I know it is hard to show restraint! I would probably buy enough WOTA for one pair of clogs. (I have never made them.) You may not like knitting the clogs or wearing them and never want to do another pair.

I have only used WOTA for one project. (It was felted) I would not use it for anything else. It is way too scratchy for me.

This is what I was hoping for! Thanks!

Even you, Bren, with your "do it"! Gosh, I felt like I was at a frat party for a minute there! Thanks for the tip to connect from here, I shall keep it in mind as I did not know!

Anyone else?

Ditto.

I wouldnt use WOTA for anything BUT felted projects, and as long as you know there are SEVERAL felted projects in your future, GO FOR IT!

I have never had any trouble ordering from them online with my plastic. There are SO many of us on here that have ordered from them that way, I dont think you should have any qualms.

What are your "other things" that are on your list?

I'm using WOTA for a double-strand simple vest, and it feels fine.

Well you know what they say, Ingrid...

"If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning".

I actually have a rubber stamp with this quote on it... one of my favorites.

I don't think I've been a dire warning since I was a teenager.
