Yarn for placemats
Hi! Does anyone have any advice for making placemats? My sister-in-law has requested ten placemats and a table runner. Its a big project for me and I am a bit apprehensive. I thought I would try Sugar and Cream but can't find the color she wants (she wants Olive or Burgandy).

Main question being what would you make placemats out of? What would you definitely not use to make placemats out of?

Just a bit nervous and thought maybe I could snitch some knitting advice. I don't want to goof it.
Thanks so much!!

Peaches N Cream is a good choice because you want it washable. Other brand like Lion are good. I have Peaches N Cream in burgundy. I purchased it at Micheals (all purpose craft store) and if you have a JoAnns near you, they usually carry a variety of colors.

Okiedokey! thanks so much Heidi jean!

I really appreciate how sweet everyone is here at this site. I have not been knitting long but this site really gives me that nudge to not be too chicken to try new stuff.
Thank you!

Another option is Lion Cotton. I saw that they even have a pattern on their site for placemats made of it:

http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/...Placemats.html

It comes in quite a few colors. I didn't see olive or burgundy, but I did see sage.

I buy burgundy cotton in 14 oz. balls at work. There really isn't a colour that I would call olive. I have seen it in Aunt Lydia's Denim though... but I think that colour may be discontinued.
