:XX: I want to make a scarf for my husband. I was trying to find a pattern for a "manly" scarf. Well, I finaly did, but the yarn that the pattern calls for is too expensive. $50 for a skein, and I need 3 skeins to make this scarf.
The scarf on the picture looks great. The yarn that is used to make this scarf is Classic Elite Yarns Forbidden. It is 100% cashmere; 65 yards [59 meters]/50 grams. It is made with needles size 11. Gauge: 15 1/2 sts and 16 rows = 4" (10 cm) in pattern stitch.
The pattern is very simple, but it looks very interesting. Row 1: k1, p1, on odd # of stitches. Row 2: Knit. And you just repeat these 2 rows until the scarf is done.
Any ideas of what yarn I can use instead of the recommended one?
:XX: One of my friends brought a book that she found at the library. I think it was called "Last-Minute Knitted Gifts". I just made a copy of that one page where the pattern for the scarf was but there is no header/footer on the page, so I am not sure about the title.
